I was surprised to see this. Last year I heard from a Delta employee that they were considering adding flights from PDX to London and Paris once the PDX remodel is finished.
KLM and Delta are codeshare partners so I don’t think you will see much difference.
Well, it is going to be a problem for some folks.
For example, try flying nonstop PDX to AMS on a Saturday in November with the new schedule. Not possible.
KLM will fly fewer flights/week than Delta did. Delta was always quite full when we flew (about twice a year) so I imagine demand will be higher.
The KLM business class flights I took LAX to AMS were in my view quite substandard because the window seat passengers must step over sleeping aisle seat passengers to reach the aisle. Not restful, and a huge downgrade from Delta One, which is lovely.
I was disappointed to hear this on the local (Portland) news. Delta's PDX-AMS has been our go-to flight since pre-Covid. (I prefer having our connecting flight in Europe, not on the east coast of the US.) Nothing against KLM; in fact I had booked our 2020 trip through them and they were very efficient in refunding us when flights were cancelled. However, the frequency of flights will be reduced significantly-3/week in "winter" and 5/week in "summer".
