Does anyone have recent (1 year or less) experience using this particular lounge? I've seen mixed reviews about the quality, staffing, cleanliness and more...including the showers being out of order in recent weeks. Hoping this is temporary and just due to summer rush. Have a 5 hour layover there in September and crossing my fingers. Any feedback is appreciated!
My wife flew through AMS to Norway 2 weeks ago while I went via London. She advised the lounge was fine, showers worked and food was of the same quality as before (okay). This lounge is not as nice as the newer one but it has all the services you need to unwind and refresh during your connection.
I fly through Amsterdam quite a bit and use the lounge each time. I would say that it’s not the “fanciest” lounge, but it’s clean and the staff are nice. It serves a lot business travellers so it’s busy in the morning and evenings.
The lounge is also being renovated. There have been ongoing work over the past year or so. As of March/April, half of the facilities were closed. I think they are expanding the restrooms and showers. I would imagine that the work would be done by September, but I’m not sure if there is anything else planned.
an 9/28 - Spent 3 forgettable hours in this sad excuse of a International Business Class lounge. Especially a lounge in the home airport of KLM. Showers out of order. Men's restroom w no urinals, stalls left in filth. Woman's restroom in no better shape. Staff indifferent.
check the flyertalk reviews on this lounge. Its pretty consistent in the negative reviews.
I wonder what our OP did in her September trip
My experience at this lounge actually wasn't bad. Of course based on things I've seen online I didn't have high expectations. Yeah the food wasn't great, but I was able access one of the shower rooms, although it didn't have a toilet in it, which I think is a huge miss. Staff was great and the lounge was clean. Plenty of places to sit, of course I got there pretty early in the morning on September 16th.
Definitely not the nicest lounge I've ever been to, but the only ones I can compare to based on personal experience are Virgin Atlantic's lounges, which are significantly better.
