We will be in Holland on a tulip time cruise for Kings Day. Are the celebrations in every town?
What is it like? I understand the streets are filled with anyone who wants selling goods on the street. Sounds interesting.
Kings Day is our national holiday, so of course it’s celebrated throughout the entire country. That’s everywhere, not just in the small part in the west called Holland.
How it’s celebrated varies from place to place but in general every town will have places where people sell their old stuff. There will be open air concerts, fun activities etc etc.
Where will you be on April 27?
Willemstad I think. At least in the morning.
We were in Amsterdam for King's Day this year. It was packed and pretty crazy. But we wandered, looked at the crowds and boats and had a good time.
The next morning - when we were expecting a garbage-filled city? It was spotless and back to normal.
I was in Amsterdam this year (2023) a few days after Kings Day. The city was still crowded, and unlike the opinion of the previous poster, I saw an abundance of piles of broken liquor bottles and garbage. Nonetheless we had a good time, despite lots of debris.
