Kinderdijk tram change

I am planning our day trip to Kinderdijk and just wanted to share some new, temporary info on transportation for getting there.

After arriving in Rotterdam by train, previously it's been a breeze to hop on Tram #7 right outside the doors of the train station to get to the Erasmusbrug bridge where the water shuttle picks you up to take you to Kinderdijk.

The 9292 journey planner did not offer up Tram #7 this time, so I went into the RET website and sure enough, since July 18, 2026 and through November 23, 2026 several tram lines have altered routes, including #7. The affected lines are: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, and 18 (to varying degrees).

The best alternative I can see (most expedient, with less walking) are Tram line #3 (direction Beverwaard) or Tram line #5 (direction Carnisselande). Both run very frequently, albeit take just a tad longer to get you to Eramusbrug. There are also alternatives to the trams, but I just stuck with the tram options.

Hope this helps some of you in planning your Kinderdijk day!
