Hi all, Will be in Amsterdam for 2 days at the end of April, 2022 (hopefully). Want to see the Keukenhoff Gardens one day and the Van Gogh the other day. Will depend on the weather which is which. Wondering how to maintain flexibility to change with the weather while still getting to see the Van Gogh which requires reserved admission. Any thoughts? What are the chances of walking in to the Van Gogh without a reservation or making a last minute reservation depending on weather?
When I visited Van Goh’s Museum in 2015, I walked in without buying a ticket before-hand; there wasn’t even a line. It was also a disappointment because his art was traveling. Instead, the museum featured letters from AIDS victims. I know another person who had a similar experience.
We did both a few years ago. I think if you go early to Keukenhoff (which, believe me, you WANT to go early) you can easily do both on the same day. Just get your Van Gogh reservation for later in the day, then you will have a choice of when to go to Keukenhoff. By the way, the Van Gogh museum is wonderful as well as the gardens! If you get early to the gardens, you will be able to take some amazing photos without a lot of people in them. Have a great trip.
We were in Amsterdam pre Covid, September 2019. We were able to walk in & purchase our Van Gogh tickets. We were staying minutes from this museum & the Rijksmuseum. Both wonderful. I agree, it would be great to visit the Keukenhoff Gardens in the am, & Van Gogh in the afternoon. Enjoy!
