just did the Anne Frank House Mueseum

We just did the visit today with our 11YO Grandson and it is so much more intense now that they limit the number of people who can be in the house at any given time. Our tickets were at 11:45 and there were about 20 who were had tickets for the that time. They did hold us at the entrance for a short time as there was a school group in front of our time and they wanted to clear them before we entered. When I think back to the last time we went with his brother, it was a world of difference-stuck in the crowd at the bottom of the stairs, rooms packed with people, trying to see and read the notes in the different rooms was a mess. Now, you can really move at your own pace and see and experience all you want.
Timed entrance is basically until 1350 and after that it's back to the old system, however, they were telling people that after 1900 was the best time to come back. I would urge any who did it before timed entry to come again.

Jerry - Thanks for the info. We have 9:30 tickets for the Anne Frank House on June 13th.

Good info to have, I've long wanted to visit the Anne Frank house and the thought of fighting my way through throngs of people just wasn't appealing, seems a place I'd want to experience and process in a less-hectic way than that.

Does anyone have experience getting the tickets through the new system? I'm not ready to get mine yet for September, but just been looking and tickets for 2 months from today already say zero available. Do you have to be online first thing in the morning to get them or is there some glitch and they will open up later? Just wondering as now I'm worried we won't be able to go.

Good to know, Jerry, thank you.

April, I don't know what to tell you about the online system, but definitely don't rule out going if you can't get a timed entry. The house is open until 10 PM in September and it is only an hour to tour. Take Jerry's advice and go after 7, when the line is short, and afterwards, you can enjoy one of the Jordaan's many nice restaurants. I would just keep checking online, but the consensus seemed to be 2 months ahead of time.

Ok, will try that if I can't get a timed ticket. Thanks Emily!

April-
I needed tix for June 5th or 6th and started looking at 2 months out. I * think* it was right at that date some tix opened for June 5- which was our best option- by the time I had clicked the few clicks for the tix at time I wanted they were gone as were any others that day. There were none for June 6.
I was really upset since I had missed visiting in 2015 and really really wanted to get there this year. I then actually checked a bit later that day on the off chance something would be avail and was able to snag 2 tix for 9:15 on June 5- happy camper!

I do remember it was about 2:30 AM EST here when I first looked- so I suppose they load each day early am Amsterdam time? Just get online as early as you can and grab the first best option that works for your trip.

I agree with OP that the experience was so nice- very limited number of people in the rooms at a time so no pushing, shoving or trying to read over someone's shoulders.

So didnt go online and purchase our tickets early enough. So I guess we will have to wait inline. We arrive in Amsterdam on July 1. That is our jetlag day so dont think that is the best day. We leave Amsterdam on the 4th. So what is the best time to wait inline and how long should we expect to wait? There are 4 of us.

Keith, I would probably get to the House around 7:00. The line should be manageable by then. The house only takes around 1 hour to tour, and it will be open until 10:00 PM.
