Is something special going on in Amsterdam on July 7 and 8; and queen bed question

I am looking for a hotel from July 7 - 11 and the prices seem to be higher than usual on on the 7th and 8th. Is there a special event those days that might be driving up prices?

Also ... most hotels show two types of beds (double and queen). Is a queen bed normally two twins pushed together? I am with my 16-yr-old granddaughter and I am having trouble finding 2 twin beds listed.

Thanks!

A queen is a queen. If two twins were pushed together it's technically king size.

Look at the Monet Garden Hotel/Amsterdam. They have a twin room (2 twins) and all other sorts of family friendly variations. Or check Eden Hotel for availability as it has twin rooms.

Taylor Swift is there until July 6, but not sure about what's happening 7-11, except everyone staying to play. It's definitely a young person's city.

If you can't find anything in Amsterdam, look outside of the city. Haarlem is a lovely quaint town with a cute market square with shops and restaurants. It's a nice escape from the city, and a short train ride into Amsterdam.

Taylor Swift performs in Amsterdam on July 4, 5 and 6. I guess lots of Swifties have planned to stay in Amsterdam for a few days following the concert.

Ah! Makes sense. I guess it will be rockin' with young girls.

Thanks for the hotel info. I will check them. Since I have my 16-yo Granddaughter and it is her first trip to Amsterdam, I prefer to stay in the city for convenience. I put a hold on a Marriott (Sir Adam) for a room with 2 beds. But, it requires the ferry for crossing (not necessarily a big deal) AND, based on reviews, it is apparently quite loud with music (a big deal).

I will keep searching.

We just returned from the NL a month ago, and stayed in both Haarlem and Leiden. Because of their canals and market squares , each has a mini-Amsterdam feel. I liked both towns so much I would stay in each again, and they are both very close to Amsterdam, but much cheaper.
In Haarlem , we stayed in the very quiet Boutique Staats Hotel. It was a two- minute walk to the train station, even tho it's located on a lovely quiet residential street. On each day we went into Amsterdam, we found it took four minutes from the time we closed our hotel room door until our butts were planted on a train seat. The train trip to Amsterdam was about 15 minutes.
Both Haarlem and Leiden were fun to explore for their own charms, churches, canal rides, and windmills.
You may have many more options in these lovely towns. In any case, have a wonderful trip!

Thanks, Pat. I have spent time in Haarlem, but I have not visited Leiden. Since it is a trip for my 16-yo granddaughter, I think she would enjoy staying in Amsterdam. It offers the opportunity to return to the hotel for a while and then back out, assuming I have the energy. :)

I will keep the name of the hotel in Haarlem for my next trip with my husband.

I've stayed in Sir Adam before on a points redemption. It's fine. I didn't have noise issues, but the ferry to Noord was a bit of a pain in the behind. This said, hear there's a bunch of nice things that way when the weather's good! For most of my visit I stayed in
INK Hotel Amsterdam (MGallery), which was nothing special but reasonable and well-located. I only took the tram once and otherwise walked everywhere.

We went to Amsterdam during peak season and saved money by staying at the Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. It’s a short walk from the Hoofddorp station and has rooms with two single beds. It’s not right in the city center but it was comfortable and I would stay there again.
