iAmsterdam Card / Van Gogh reservations

I found this older thread about the process of reserving a timed entry to Van Gogh museum using the iAmsterdam card. It appears the glitch described in the post has been resolved with a specific link on the iAmsterdam page to making reservations.

Has anyone had more recent experience with this process (successful or not)? I will be in Amsterdam June 20-24 and won't have physical possession of the card until arrival, which means I won't be making timed entry choices until a day or two ahead of the museum visit. Any advice much appreciated.

I am not an expert on this but I'll tell you my experience last April.

I did the RS Belgium and Holland tour which ends with 3 nights in Amsterdam. I had booked a couple of months ahead for a regular Van Gogh museum entry. On the first night of the trip somehow the conversation came around to the Van Gogh Museum and it turned out that the museum was completely booked for the days we were in Amsterdam so only those who booked ahead were able to visit (2 of us I think). My point is that I'd not want to count on there being slots open if you can't book until you arrive. Unless they have special times set aside for iAmsterdam cardholdlers, I would not risk waiting. I'd purchase a separate timed entry.

This is a wonderful museum. I do recommend you start on the 3rd floor where the "good stuff" is. It messes up the museum time line but you'll see the best stuff before any fatigue sets in.

On the Van Gogh Museum website they direct I AMsterdam card holders to make their Reservations at the I AMsterdam Website. On the I AMsterdam site they say that they have tickets allotted for The VanGogh Museum for their cardholders. They said that you can often get same day tickets. You will need your I Amsterdam Card number to reserve those tickets. I have not used their system, as I have always been able to get tickets to museums in Amsterdam on the same day right at the museums kiosks because I travel off season.
