hotel recommendations in/near Amsterdam with quick access to Airport on Sunday

We are in Amsterdam at the end of a UniWorld Cruise Friday June 14, and fly out to Chicago on Sunday June 16. I'm looking for a hotel for two nights that will have "easy" to train to Airport on Departure day. On Friday I'm thinking about going to Cheese Market at Alkmaar and Saturday going to Delft.

Thanks!

Any hotel in central Amsterdam will have an "easy" train to Schiphol airport.
The station is called "Amsterdam Centraal", and is, as the name suggests, right in the centre of the city. Most tram routes start or end in the square in front of the station. There are frequent (every few minutes) trains to Schiphol station, which is underneath the terminal.

Both Alkmaar and Delft (and any other town in the Netherlands) are accessible by train from Amsterdam Centraal, so by the time you leave you will be familiar with the station.

Have you considered staying at airport hotel for two nights? You could easily take train from Schipol to Delft and to Alkmaar. Hotels near airport provide shuttle transportation making it convenient for arrival at airport for flight home. My husband and I stayed at Hampton Inn that was easy access to and from airport. Hotel had a restaurant for evening meal and continental breakfast before departure on shuttle bus to Schipol. We made reservation (no fee) the afternoon prior to departure to ensure our seat on the shuttle bus at specific time.

The regular train service to Schiphol airport starts around 5:00. They go every 15 mins and take around a quarter of an hour. They all have Schiphol as an intermediate station. So, don't worry if you're shown a train with Hoofddorp or Den Haag Centraal as the final destination.

thanks to all..

I'm checking on the Hampton Inn...the website says no rooms available! I have an email in to them to check...do they "block" out rooms far out to maximize revenue or do you think they are actually sold out?

This if for June next year? I would say their reservation system doesn't go so far.

It’s probably too early to reserve, and you definitely don’t want to stay out at the airport.
There are a couple of very helpful guys on TA who advise on good hotels, all budgets, and recommend areas to stay in Amsterdam. It’s pretty easy to get to the train station to take you anywhere, including the airport. A plus is when you get back from the day trips you can actually enjoy the evenings in Amsterdam itself.

hey mikewade
look up booking.com or citymundo.com for a place to stay. amsterdam is expensive and places get booked up fast, when you find something to your liking book it and don't look back. you are going during busy season and then take your day trips. make sure where ever you book that they can hold your bags while you day trip so you don't have to carry your bags. have fun and enjoy, you'll have fun.

you might also consider the Sheraton at Schipohl.
Within walking distance of the terminal.
Nice staff, quiet rooms.
Then you can get anywhere on a train.
And if you are booking for 2019, your dates may be too far out...

My sister stayed at the Hampton out by the airport and enjoyed it.
Consider hotels in the museum district which have an extremely convenient express bus direct to the airport.
We stayed at Hotel Vondel and really liked it. The express bus was just one block away and so convenient.

Are you talking June 2019? If so, I doubt that you can reserve that far in advance. I just checked Hilton, and the Hampton has tons of availability one month from now. I checked two weeks prior to and two weeks after your 2019 times, and got "no availability". I seriously doubt that it's booked that entire month.

That being said, I just stayed there for two weeks in June 2018 and had no trouble getting a reservation. Clean, reasonable, nice people, zero restaurants nearby, very limited and boring hotel food. Shuttle leaves every 40 minutes to airport. Hoofdorp train station is across the street, so you can hop on and go right to Schipol or downtown, which is what I did for dinner nearly every night.

I'm assuming that, coming off a cruise, you will have a ton of luggage. Unless you want to stay at the Hilton or Sheraton, which are attached to the airport (and are VERY pricey), the Hampton has no advantage over a hotel in the city unless your flight is at the crack of dawn. Not sure if you can get to Delft directly from the Hoofdorp station either. Hope this helps.

It depends on the chain and the property itself. I've got reservations at an Amsterdam Holiday Inn Express in June 2019 already because I fond a screaming deal on an award redemption for a couple of days after our cruise. (And figured I had to pounce on it now between the limited number of rooms properties generally make available for award nights and the high likelihood that IHG would increase the amount of points per night needed by 50-100% when they do their usual first quarter of the year award rate readjustments.)

Look into Novotel Schiphol Airport Hotel. It is right by Hoofddorp station which is only one stop away from the airport on NS train (5 min). You can also take Uber to the airport which will cost less than $20. We stayed there for 3 nights and it was wonderful.

There are a lot of hotels in the Hoofddorp area very near Schipohl airport and on the train route to the airport. Several years ago, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and found it a good value. We took the nearby train to Amsterdam, Haarlem, and the airport. On the morning of our flight, we had a nice included breakfast and took the free shuttle to the airport. We went to the nearby Restaurant l'Hirondelle which was only a short walk away for a nice meal. The Hampton Inn and Crowne Plaza are nearby.
