We need to be at the Amsterdam Airport before 8am so thought we'd stay in that area the night before. We're coming from Gouda. Any recommendations for a mid-range hotel? It wouldn't need to be super close, just so that we could easily get transportation to the airport from it. Thanks.
IMO, anything near Zuid or Lelylaan stations where you can catch a train
and be at Schiphol in under 10 minutes might be as good or better than staying
near the airport and being at the mercy of a shuttle schedule.
We had an early flight, 7am and in the end we decided to keep our hotel in Leiden for the last night and just take the train to the airport . I had some difficulty confirming shuttle times and availability. We had no difficulty getting to the airport on time.
We were flying from Marseille to Boston through Schipol. We decided to stay the night at the airport and visit Amsterdam City center during the day and leave for Boston the following morning. We were at Schipol before noon, dropped off our carryon’s and took the train to the city center. We returned on a 9:00pm train. I looked up the information for our trip but I did not save the hotel information. I know we did not have to go though security in the morning so it may have been the Murcure Schipol as that is airside. Our luggage was checked through to Boston so we did not have to worry about that. We were able to get breakfast in the morning without going out of the airside area. It worked out quite well.
Thanks everyone for your advice. This will greatly help me plan my trip.
We stayed at the Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport hotel. It is a short walk to the Hoofddorp train station and a quick train ride to Schipol. It was clean, pleasant, and reasonably priced, and I would stay there again.
