Hi Christine.

We are staying at ML for 4 nights next week. I will try and let you know how we liked it.

We have 2 more nights here at ML hotel in Haarlem. Here's my review.

We have a second floor room #23. It has a great view of St Ɓavo which is just across the street. They do have a small elevator if stairs are an issue. The room was very quiet. The church bells were barely noticeable. The bed was 2 twins put together to make a king. It was very comfortable. One odd thing was they don't have faceclothes with the towels. How you were to use the liquid body wash without a terry facecloth is beyond me. The staff is accommodating and the rooms were clean.

They do NOT offer a free breakfast. We had breakfast today..no menu and I think it was 16.50€/ea. Pricey for sure but we were on a tight time schedule and it made it convenient...plus the offered scrambled eggs that made DH happy. The amt of food they brought out was unbelievable! A basket of assorted breads, 2 pancakes, 4 mini muffins, a plate of cheese slices, yogurt, granola, fruit, a plate of meat and of course, eggs! Juice, coffee were offered.

Location: From Schiphol, it is an easy ride on Bus 300. Getting into Amsterdam we always walked from the hotel to the Haarlem train station...that took 12-15min and pretty straight forward. I will say, after walking 20,000 step in a day, having to add that 10-15 min walk back from the Harlem station was a bit unwelcome..this is coming from two 70yr olds. As this was our first visit to Amsterdam, we have gone there every day. I might be tempted to stay in the city if the price is right. We picked Haarlem as we heard it was quieter, which it was. Lots of shops (closed at 6pm) and restaurants (many opened at 5pm).

There is a cozy fondue restaurant in Haarlem that we enjoyed called in't Goede Uur.

Hope this helps.

@marlene_811, it is unusual to find facecloths/washcloths in Europe in my experience. They consider them to be personal and most people travel with their own if they want to use one.

Thank you, @marlene_811, for posting your review on Hotel ML. I had requested a room with a view of St. Bavo, but was concerned that it might be too noisy located next to the square. Good to know that your room was quiet. Also, thanks for the restaurant tip. We love fondue and I've included in't Goede Uur as a possible dinner while in Haarlem.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Hubby stayed there for a week to meet his cousins in Amsterdam and he loved the ML hotel. He said the food was great, and they were very kind and helpful when he got sick and needed to find a doctor. He also advises to be sure to go to the Saturday Market if you are there that day. Enjoy!
