Hotel in Jordaan, Amsterdam + Private Canal Boat Ride

We are planning a quick overnight in Amsterdam in April; two families with 2 teens each.

Any recommendations for hotels in Jordaan?

And can anyone recommend a private canal boat ride? Or is hop-on, hop-off, better? We arrive in the late afternoon so it will be an early evening ride.

Dont have a hotel recommendation (you could look farther afield too. The Jordaan is small. Just south of Jordaan would be good, or the museum area, or De Pijp. As for canal tours, Dam Boat Guys are good and offer private tours. They are informal, so depending on your taste...:
