I have been trying to contact Hotel de Leydsche Hof in Amsterdam for 2 weeks by email without any response at all. Does anyone know whether they are still in business or on vacation? I would like to stay there as I am planning a trip for May 2018. As an alternative does anybody have any other suggestions for other B&B type places to stay in Amsterdam? Thanks.

Can'[t say for sure, but a lot of B&Bs are closing in Amsterdam because the city is cracking down on AirBnb rentals, and it's getting too hard for B&Bs to meet all the rules. Here's what I found on one website, which applies to vacation rentals:
Renting out homes or floating homes for holiday rental is subjected to certain rules:
1. Up to a maximum of 60 days
2. To no more than 4 people at once
3. Fire safety ensured
4. Paying tourist tax and income taxes.
The administrative fine for residential withdrawal is € 20,500.
