Hotel Central Amsterdam

We have been to Amsterdam before and stayed out by the Museums. We were to go again just as Covid started so had to cancel. I am amazed at the price increase since 2021.
We are looking for a room for 4 adults, breakfast, and elevator (if possible) central location.
Does anyone have any suggestions. Travelling with our daughter and 17 yr old granddaughter.

On Cameron's Blog, he cites $400 as the average cost for a hotel in Amsterdam, due to the government's attempts to limit tourism.
Have you considered staying in charming Haarlem. We did this past April, 2024, and loved the area. Safe travels!

Without a budget in Euros or USD and dates of stay it’s impossible to give meaningful advice. There are lots of hotels in central Amsterdam ranging in price from €100 to €1000 per night. Also room rates triple or even quadruple depending on when exactly you plan to visit.

Dutch_Leveler, I was looking at E250/ night for 3 nights. Looking at dates April 22 departing April 25th. Have spent the afternoon doing research and will look at Harlem as well.
Any information would be helpful.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is an impossible budget for a hotel in central Amsterdam during your dates. In normal years your dates already coincide with the peak of the tulip season and in 2025 Easter is on Sunday April 20. This means that your dates coincide with both the peak of the tulip season and the Easter holiday. Double the trouble, quadruple the room rates!
I’m afraid something has got to give here. If you can’t change dates, you should either increase your budget significantly or look for somewhere else to stay.

And- when is the King's Day holiday for 2025?

I you meant E250 for each room then Park Centraal Amsterdam would work for those dates. You could get 2 rooms forE250 (each room) for your dates. It is right by the museums and the tram right across the street so easy to access the center of town. We found it very convenient when we stayed last October for 4 nights. It has elevators as well.

I am looking for two rooms for Sept. 4 and 5 in a good location in Amsterdam. Is there a hotel where it is nice to walk in the evenings? Something around 300 euros per night?

We just paid 425 euro per night for central Amsterdam for a tiny room for 2 people this past April. It's expensive!
We loved Haarlem. Great suggestion to check rates there.

My wife and I are currently staying in Amsterdam Canal Suites on Keizersgracht Straat just West of the Amstel River. We are on the second floor (no elevator) with a view of the canal from the living room which has a large sofa bed. There's a kitchen area with half frig, table, sink, coffee maker, etc. (no microwave though). There's a queen bed and full bath. We are staying eight days and paying about 2500 Euro (there's a 500 Euro deposit returnable as long as we don't abuse the place). There's a tram down the block and some nice cafes and restaurants as well as markets and bakeries. We are a 20 minute walk from Dam Square and the main museums. We did book our rooms six or seven months in advance to lock in our price.
Our original thought was for Hotel the Craftsman but they wanted over 400 Euros a night. So glad we found this place. Some reviewers of Canal Suites complained about construction next door (all done, it's quiet at night) and a mosquito problem but we have been fine. Good luck on your search.
