Hi there,
Our family is going to Amsterdam in June and I am preparing to buy online tickets for Anne Frank, the Rijksmuseum, and Van Gogh. This may seem like a simple question but may I get clarification from others who have been there or in the know? I need to purchase a ticket for an 18 year old for the Van Gogh museum. It says "under 18 is free," but does this mean "age 18 and under" similar to what the Rijksmuseum pricing is, or does this really mean 17 and below is free and 18 and up is an adult? Sorry, but I think I've looked up so many different museum prices for 3 countries that my brain is not registering clearly. It would be a bummer if I paid when I didn't need to, but on the other hand if I don't pay, we end up in the long ticket buying line which I'm most definitely trying to avoid! Any help much appreciated.
Under 18 means 17 days and 364 days old.
The Dutch-language website is also totally clear on this point: younger than 18 years.
Many museums have a policy to include the 18-year olds, but apparently not the Van Gogh Museum.
Yes, some museums included 18 yr olds, so I thought the Van Gogh did as well, but apparently not, so thank you so much for your responses. I was trying to avoid making mistakes with the online ticket buying. Our stay is short (3 days) so we are buying tickets directly versus using a Museumkaart or other pass.
In the US when we mean under 18 we say '17 and younger'; in Europe they tend to phrase it 'under 18' and that always means 17 and younger. If it includes 18 year olds, they say 'under 19'.
