Help- any restaurant recommendations in Leiden?

We are staying in Leinden tomorrow and Monday. Just noticed the RS Netherlands book lists no restaurants for Leiden. Dies anyone have a recommendation? We prefer good but not too expensive places. Also, we'll have lunch in the Hague one day. Again, any recommendations? Thanks so much!

We recently returned from Leiden and will share some restaurants there that we enjoyed. Tou will love Leiden! Take a canal boat tour too.
Some places that are mid-range, good value and have delicious food:
City Hall, excellent Italian. You can sit outside if weather is nice. Their seafood risotto was outstanding. Good wine selections. Next to the city hall.
Olivier Belgian Beer Cafe' - We love mussels and ordered their house special, Mussels Olivier with a side of delicious bread. There are many other choices if you don't want mussels. Casual with a dun vibe.
Annie's- we had lunch outside on the river and higjly recommend any of their sandwiches on delicious Dutch bread. Beer and ice tea too.
Ould Leyden- beat pancakehaus in Leiden. Their menu offers other dishes too.
Malle Jan-French-Dutch, a brasserie.
If you decide you want a special dining experience then go to In den Doofpot, creative small plates, choose how many courses you want. Over the top delicious!
The Hague- We wanted to have an Indonesian rijstaffle while in The Netherlands as we had on past trips there. Garoeda in The Hague was recommend , however, was disappointing, tough meat, poor service.
We loved The Hague, a beautiful, small city. You must visit Mauritshaus Mueum. It is now one of our favorite small art museums with an excellent collection.

I am sure you will love Leiden. We had been there before but only as a day trip. This trip we spent a week there and hope to return. You can tour all over The Netherlands from Leiden by train. It was so easy to use train to Rotterdam, ,then a tram to waterfront and waterbus to Kinderdijk, a UNESCO site.

Thanks, Becky and Suki. I've bookmarked this page.

We're planning on spending 4 or days in the Netherlands after our 2018 BOE tour, and are seriously considering staying in Leiden. We had noticed that the RS book doesn't have any restaurant or hotel info.

Suki, where did you stay? Or did you already answer that in another thread I started?

This is too late for Becky, but ...

We enjoyed Pannenkoekenhuys Oudt Leyden. Delphi was popular and the food was okay. There were a couple of other places down side streets that we just happened upon and I can't seem to find them on a map. Sorry.

We stayed here at the Huys van Leyden. It was a splurge, but it was our 25th anniversary trip.

We used Leiden as a base for wandering around the area and going to Keukenhof, but we also walked all over Leiden.

My favorite in-town thing was visiting the Molen Museum de Valk. I loved poking around the inside of the mill and learning when we went out on the deck that my husband is just a teensy bit acrophobic.

Thanks, Lo. Ours is an anniversary trip, too; I'll have to see how much of a splurge it is!

Edit to add: Whoops! Not this time. It's pretty much over our budget, but thanks for the suggestion. Maybe for our 60th...
