Do this tour include an actual inside tour of The Anne Frank House or does it include only a view of the house from the outside?
The tour includes a visit inside the Anne Frank house. For more specifics feel free to contact the RS office.
I don't believe tours are allowed inside the Anne Frank House. When I took this tour many years ago, we went inside with the tour group and our guide. We watched a short film and then we were on our own to visit the museum.
Which is true?
I suspect both are correct, in that you will be taken inside, but your RS guide will not be allowed to talk/guide inside. That has been the case in a number of locations on RS tours.
I have been there twice and you don't need a tour guide-you just need the difficult-to-obtain ticket to get in.
I think people are misunderstanding my question. I am not asking about tour guides. I am asking if we get to enter the actual museum part? In other words, is a museum ticket included in the Rick Steves tour package? I have heard you can go into the building without a ticket but can't go upstairs to the actual annex unless you have a ticket. So I am wondering if that ticket is included in the Rick Steves tour package I purchased.
In the "What's included" section of the tour:

On the tour itinerary:
Day 9: Vibrant and Historic Amsterdam
This morning, we'll get chummy with Amsterdam's gabled houses, bridges, and canals while learning why the Golden Age glimmered so brightly here. We'll take a historic tour through the heart of the city, stopping to visit the Anne Frank House for a thought-provoking look at the hideaway of Anne and her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The rest of the day is yours to tackle any number of Amsterdam's wonderful museums.
You will VISIT the Ann Frank House (that's the name of the museum). VISIT is the key word.
All people who visit the Anne Frank house are given a handheld device that connects at various points inside the building for corresponding information. No actual "tour" is conducted in the house as silence is observed. The RS group is given the same visit that everyone experiences.
I just completed the first Rick Steves Tour to Belgium/Netherlands of the season a couple weeks ago.
Silas Marner is correct: visiting the Ann Frank House is included in the tour, meaning you get inside the museum as part of the tour (after a walking tour of the Jordaan neighborhood).
The actual tour inside the Ann Frank House is done electronically by equipment given to you by the museum; everyone does have the same tour. The tour is NOT done by a Rick Steve guide.
On our tour, the Ann Frank House visit is done at your own pace, then you are free for the afternoon (we did not “meet up” again after the Ann Frank House tour - I went to Museum of Our Lord in the Attic, then the Netherlands Maritime Museum).
