My wife and I (60's) will need to get to the airport in Amsterdam. We will be leaving from Haarlem. What is the best way of doing this? Bus? cab? train? thanks

Bus 300 leaves from in front of the train station in Haarlem. It's about a 40 minute ride to the airport and would probably be the easiest as well as cheapest method to get to the airport.
The website I am linking for you shows the times the bus runs as well as alternative methods of transport.

That 300 bus, unless anything has changed, is a long articulated red bus with plenty of room for luggage.
