I am just finding out there is no express bus to Keukenhof on weekdays out of Haarlem. We have 3pm tickets to Rijksmuseum for the Vermeer exhibit at 3pm on the day we planned to go to Keukenhof.
Bus 50 seems to take forever and there is a 12 min walk from the bus stop to Keukenhof entrance.
Any suggestions on the best way to use public transportation to fit both of these stops in the same day?

I am in the process of figuring out my travels as well. Maybe Haarlem to Schiphol via train then bus to Keukenhof? Keukenhof to Schiphol to Amsterdam Central tram to Rijksmuseum. I am planning on getting the regional transportation pass 3 days which includes all the above through I am Amsterdam. There may be a 24 hour pass.
I feel sometimes I’m on the show amazing race to figure stuff out.
If the buses aren't available,
I would take an early train from Haarlem to Amsterdam Central, then the train from Amsterdam Central to Schipol.
At Schipol, you can catch the Express bus #858 to Keukenhof.
The reverse would be: Express bus back from Keukenhof to Schipol
From Schipol take the Bus#397 to Musuemplein.
Or take the train back to Amsterdam Central and take tram #2? to Musuemplein.

We are now considering just getting a taxi to get us to Keukenhof and will take public transportation back to Rijksmuseum.
