Guided tours of Rijksmuseum and/or Van Gogh museum

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone or a company who does a good job of guided tours of Rijksmuseum or Van Gogh Museum? The one through the Rijksmuseum is only available on the weekends and we will only be in Amsterdam for Weds and Thursday in July.

Thanks

I've had guided tours of the Rijksmuseum but they were on Rick Steves or Road Scholar tours. I did download their app which is quite good if you wind up doing a DIY.

Yes - if you can't get a guided tour, don't despair, as the Rijksmuseum app is excellent and I was just at the Van Gogh museum a couple of weeks ago and found their audio guide very good, too.

I visited the Van Gough Museum a few years back, and the audio guide was quite good. I visited the Rijksmuseum 2 years ago with a Context Travel guide/"docent." That tour was excellent. The docent very nicely curated the collection, providing a 2.5-3 hour tour. Unfortunately, group tours with the company are limited. The company offers a Van Gogh private tour and both group and private tours for the Rijksmuseum. From what I can tell though, the group tours for the Rijksmuseum do not run on Wednesday and Thursday, but private tours may be scheduled those days. The company is pricey! If I were to pick one museum for a tour, I would pick the Rijksmuseum. I'm returning to Amsterdam in April with a different friend. I'm following my own advice. Audio tour for Van Gogh, Context Travel (again) for Rijksmuseum.

I am guessing the Rijksmuseum hasn't yet released the tickets for weekdays in the summer yet, as there are weekday tours in March and some of April. I would keep checking back.

The Van Gogh museum offers in-person guided tours as well as the audio tour.. You can purchase tickets for their torus on their webside. I did not tkae a tour but I crossed paths with one of their tours when I was visiting the museum. I was favorably impressed with what I heard in that the guide was providing information and insights beyond what was in the audio tour.

CL is correct; it’s simply way too early for all the guided tours for July to go on sale. Check back closer to your visiting date and you’ll see plenty of guided tours available on all days of the week.
