Great restaurant in Haarlem?

Hi, folks! My family is planning a reunion vacation in the Netherlands in August and we're hoping to arrange a big dinner with our family there. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in either Haarlem or Santpoort Zuid? We will be a group of 11 people that includes three teenagers and two older people who have slight mobility issues.

Thanks!

De Lachende Javaan is very good. We've eaten there twice with RS tours, so they can handle large groups. One tip: the last time we were there our guide ordered a special menu for me, without sugar. It was one of the best meals I have had, and my husband (who of course had to sample everything) said it was better than what everyone else had.

We also enjoyed several Italian restaurants in Haarlem, but they were too small for a large group.

I agree that De Lachende Javaan is an excellent Indonesian restaurant. Other restaurants we enjoy in Haarlem include Jopenkerk and Bistrobar Indonesia. Jopenkerk is a bit higher end upstairs but you can often snag tables outside or in their bar for their bar menu (which is just okay). Bistrobar Indonesia is a more hip, modern Indonesian restaurant that has great food. It is best to make reservations for both.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I've looked up the restaurants, seen photos, menus and great reviews, so I think I've got my bases covered in Haarlem. I'll reach out to see if either place can seat eleven people, one with mobility issues.

Thank you again,
Greer
