We are planning a River Cruise trip in May 2024, that starts in Amsterdam. Are there any good recommendations for hotels near the docks? Or a hotel that is centrally located ? We would like to spend a few days in Amsterdam prior to embarkation, so any suggestions on hotels and sites are greatly appreciated!

We took a river cruise that ended in Amsterdam. They don't seem to dock at a consistent place, and I don't think that the docking area is determined that far in advance. We had thought and planned on them docking near the Central train station which would have been within walking distance of our hotel. The ended up docking in what looked like an industrial area and we needed to use a cab to get to city center. The hotel we stayed at was wonderful and it was priced well. However, they are remodeling it so it will be completely different and most likely more expensive.
