Getting from cruise ship to hotel

Hello there

I am wondering the best way to get from my cruise ship to my hotel when I come to visit in June. My understanding is that there are not a lot of cars on the road in Amsterdam.

Is it easy to navigate transit with luggage or should we just spring for a taxi? We will have the iAmsterdam card which includes transit.

The best way depends on where your hotel is and where exactly your cruise ship docks.

Cruise ships do not always dock at the same place. Ours was changed at the last minute necessitating a taxi into city center

The usual cruise ship docks are not too far from Amsterdam Centraal, with a tram to get there, then trams, the metro, and possibly trains to get you closer to your hotel...but walking may be as quick.

Taxi is certainly an option, but for some places, taxis can take longer as they need to take a circuitous route to avoid pedestrian areas and one way streets.

As others said, highly dependent as to which dock and which hotel.

We are cruising with Viking, I asked where they dock and she said it was Veemkade 1019 PTA Terminal Dock 1,4,5

We are staying at Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam City Centre. Tesselschadestraat 23 1054 ET

If you have carry ons, take the tram. If you have larger luggage, or more than a piece each, take a taxi

Our cruise was through Viking, as well. Maybe you will be luckier, but initially we were told we'd dock close to the main train station. A couple days before the end of the cruise, it was changed to a dock well out of city center and not on any public transportation routes.
