We are four adults that have to get to the airport from the port. Is it better to take a bus, train or cab?

The main cruise ship terminal is within walking distance of Centraal train station. There is also a tram stop at the terminal which goes direct to the train station. The quickest and fast way to get to the airport will be via train, departures every ten minutes or so, travel time 20 minutes. The most convenient but most expensive if you have a lot of luggage will be via taxi.

To add to what Michael wrote, you may want to take a taxi from the port to the train station if you have more than carry-on luggage. It will be easy to manage from there.

Assuming you are returning from a cruise and cruisers do not travel light (difficult IMO as a cruiser myself!) you can take a taxi for about 40 euros for four people. This is what we did last fall and it was well worth it.
