free afternoon in Rotterdam

We will take a morning tour of The Hague and Delft with a tour group. The group will give us a short city orientation of Rotterdam, take us up in the Euromast Tower and then we have the afternoon free before going back to Amsterdam. I'm interested in windmills, old architecture, and history. I was looking at either going to explore Schiedam's windmills, going to Kinderdijk, or just staying in Rotterdam and doing a walking tour and/or water tour. I am not sure yet as to how much free time we have before leaving Rotterdam. We will not get an exact schedule for a few months. Any suggestions on how to best spend a few hours.

Thanks!

If you're interested in modern architecture, Rotterdam is fascinating. If your tour doesn't go to the Cube Houses, they're interesting even from the outside, and even more so from the inside (one is operated as a museum).

However, Rotterdam does not have old architecture or windmills, so if those are what you seek, you might want to skip Rotterdam and see the other places you list.
