Favorite Beach Towns

Hi. Hubby and I will be spending ten nights in Netherlands and would like to spend a couple of nights at a hotel on the beach in early September. Haven’t planned on renting a car, so looking for something with easy access by train or bus from Amsterdam. Won’t be staying in Amsterdam this trip - seeing some of the smaller towns this trip.

Recommendations for your favorite beach town and or hotel is much appreciated.

Thanks so much.

I realize that October and September are not the same, but I thought this might be useful to you:

In fact, I would expect the Atlantic and the English Channel to be colder than the Mediterranean-assuming it is safe to swim at all.

I have no personal experience in the Netherlands but you have to worry about local "resort" businesses beginning seasonal closures after the peak month of August tourism.

I don't find most European beaches superior to the East and West coast of the U.S. A place like Scheveningen would let you retreat (I mean, daytrip) to The Hague if you get bored or chilly at an off-season beach.

You definitely do not have to worry about anything closing down as early as September. Hotels, (beach)restaurants, etc etc will all remain open until at least the end of October, with many staying open all year round.
Also, the North Sea is perfectly safe to swim in and in early September the water temperature of the North Sea has only just reached its peak temperature, so you can still swim in the sea. The English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean are located elsewhere, so I’m not sure how their temperature or safety is relevant to this question.
If you depend on public transport, Zandvoort is probably the easiest beach town to reach from Amsterdam but it isn’t the nicest one.
I personally like Noordwijk a lot, but it’s more difficult to reach by public transport. Scheveningen is another good option.
For something completely different, check out the island of Texel. It’s one of the 5 Wadden Islands and well worth a visit.

As already said September can still be perfect for a stay in a beachtown here in the Netherlands, however they lose easily their appeal when the weather turns bad. To my opinion has Scheveningen together with The Hague the most to offer to entertain the tourist if the weather will not cooperate. Access by train is easy from Amsterdam.

My favorite beachtown is Domburg, small, charming and not so spoiled like the other places, but too far away from Amsterdam.
