Fastest way to get from Schiphol to Rijksmueum

Last minute request!!! What is the fastest way to get from an arriving international flight at Schiphol airport to the Rijksmuseum? My flight was cancelled today, and now I am arriving at AMS at 7:15am (scheduled) on 16 March. But I have tickets to the Vermeer exhibit at 9:00am. I would have taken a train, then walked from the Centraal Station, but wanted to see if there was something quicker. I know it is a long shot, but this is my one shot at the Vermeer exhibit.

Also, anyone know if there is luggage storage at the museum?

There is a bus that goes from the airport to the museum district. Bus 397 takes you there in about 30 minutes.

Oh dear, that’s not good news. You will now be on a very tight schedule. At that time of day, with lots of transatlantic flights arriving, passport control can be crazy busy with waiting times of 60 minutes.
From the moment you land you must make sure you’re ready and prepared. Your first and only priority once you land should be to race to passport control. I mean that literally; don’t walk, run! You don’t have time for toilet breaks or to freshen up, do that on the plane or once you’ve made it thru passport control and wait for your luggage.
The quickest way to get to the Rijksmuseum is the #397 bus which leaves right from outside the airport. No need to buy a ticket, just tap in and out with your credit card.
Good luck and please let us know how it went!

Oh PharmerPhil !!! I am so sorry for the last-minute BIG change put on you by the airline ! I hope it will worke out and you will be able to make it !!!

It's great that people chimed in with the bus idea and advising you need to leave your bag before you get to the museum.

I hope that 24 hours from now you are there enjoying the exhibit !!!!! (I thought you bought two tickets for two different dates but that must have been someone else ??)

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm off this morning (hopefully). My plan is the bus 397, and dropping my bags at LockerPoint. Yes, I have a second ticket for Friday, but what was once just an insurance policy is now a second go round I am looking forward to. This way I see the exhibit on day, digest it overnight, and go back for whatever piqued my interest.

Well thank goodness you have that insurance policy ! You may well need it depending on what happens with your flight, immigration, and transit into the city tomorrow. Glad you have both options.

Just a quick follow-up. My new flight was delayed in Newark, and between that and luggage delays, I made it to The Rijks about an hour late. No problem, they let me in without my even pleading my case. Much more crowded than expected, but great visit anyway. Saw five paintings that I had previously not seen, and many more old friends. Going back this afternoon for round two. Thanks again for everyone’s help here. Bus #397 and LockerPoint worked out great.

Oh WOW! That is excellent that they let you enter after your entry time. SO happy you got to see the exhibit on the 16th and you will probably have already seen it a 2nd time by now, lol!

And yes, your plight is why I originally booked for the day after the day after I arrive, lol.

This is good news, PharmerPhil. I’m so glad you made it. If you enjoyed the exhibit half as much as we did, you had a wonderful experience.

Thanks for the update; we were worried about you!

This is exactly why I booked tickets for our 3rd day in Amsterdam. And I took someone's suggestion here and booked back up tickets for the 4th day. My husband said I was crazy. Now it seems, not so crazy after all. So very glad that it all worked out for you!
