EES Experiences

Have they started in Amsterdam? We have a connecting flight US to AMS to Munich. Our layover is 2:25 hrs. Just wondering if there have been long lines. We leave Wednesday.

If what you are referring to has been implemented it was not in use when I entered Amsterdam last week. I was interviewed by an agent and my passport was manually stamped. There were no other options available at my point of entry.

AMS airport will reach full operational capacity for EES on April 10, 2026.
I will be using it for the first time next month; hopefully it doesn't cause long delays at passport control.

Just landed at Amsterdam airport today, April 12. Passport line for those leaving the airport was very long and very slow. And interview and hand stamping occurred. We are in the system from other stops we’ve made here and agent seemed to be looking at that info.

How does one "use it" ......... I looked for a form to fill out before travel, but there does not appear to be one.

@Carl; EES and ETIAS are 2 different things. I already gave you the link to the official EU website about ETIAS in your other post.
The official website for EES is https://travel-europe.europa.eu/en/etias
Bottomline; you don’t have to do anything right now, except pack a lot of patience.

There is no form to fill out.

Basically what is being added to the process is you will first go to a kiosk, scan your passport, get your picture taken, then place your hand on a scanner to take fingerprints. You may then be asked some questions, or not, to respond to. At the end, you will be directed to one of two lines, one to use the e-gates and exit, the other to talk to an agent.

Landed at AMS on April 15. The line for EU passport holders took people to machines, which didn’t seem to be working efficiently. In the line for other passports, there were lots of machines covered in plastic and not being used. As someone above mentioned, we went through a “normal” passport control process (and spent 30 minutes in line).
