Eating out in Amsterdam, Leiden

Anyone have any suggestions for some wonderful meals in Amsterdam or Leiden? We are ready to enjoy the local waffles and chocolates and just wondered if there were meals we need to make certain we enjoy……going in a few weeks! Thank you!

Waffles and chocolates? These are foods that Belgium is known for, not the Netherlands. Are you visiting Belgium too?

There are lots of wonderful meals to be had in Amsterdam and Leiden ranging from 2-star Michelin to food stalls at a market. Therefore some idea of a budget would be helpful.

Sorry…..i should have said that we will enjoy the waffles and chocolates on our Belgium leg of the trip…..our budget is not too tight but also not extravagant…..we do not drink alcohol so that helps keep the meal tickets down…..looking on Trip Advisor as well to see what is rated high

We thoroughly enjoyed our traditional Dutch meal at The Pantry in Amsterdam. Very small, cozy, and wonderful hosts. Reservations are a must.

When in Belgium, if you are in Ghent; enjoy delicious chocolate and waffles at In Choc Gent.

We enjoyed both The Pantry and Restaurant 't Zwaantje, which were already mentioned here. We also had a great meal at Fulu Mandarin.

Something a bit different that we did was high tea at Gartine, but they also have breakfast and lunch. The high tea was very good and my daughter and I very much enjoyed the atmosphere as well.
