E-Bike That Seats Two Adults

Can you rent an electric bike that seats two in Amsterdam? If so, how much for a day?

Thanks,
Jean

I doubt you will find a tandem e-bike in Amsterdam - I checked a few places and they had tandem bikes and e-bikes but no tandem e-bikes. They are being made but I think hat they are still limited in production.

Having said that, I really don't think you will need an e-bike if you are in Amsterdam - it's very flat and with both of you pedaling a tandem bike, you probably won't have any problems. You can also check, though. Here is the result of a google search I did. it has a list of bike companies that you can rent from. Just check their stock and see what they have. You can check the prices, too.

Did you ever ride a tandem bike? It's not very easy, and I wouldn't want to maneuver one in the busy streets of Amsterdam. If you know what you're doing, go ahead, but if you're new to this, rent two bikes.

Oh, OK, that's a very original design, never seen one! I'd be surprised if they were available for rental anywhere, but then I have not been to the Netherlands recently.

Interesting line in the linked ad - "Just like a moped, but without a helmet, driver’s license or expensive insurance." Hmmm.... so they think that two folks on a bike going as they say at 25 kph need no helmets.... Doesn't sound so great to me...

Jean, that makes sense (although I think our mistake was understandable). :) I have never heard of them so it must be a new thing. I would suggest calling or emailing some of the bike rental places in Amsterdam. I doubt they will have them but you never know.

And Nigel, I agree with you about the helmets but during my stay in Amsterdam, I don't think I saw a single local wearing a bike helmet (and that included kids). So it should fit right in. :)

I've never seen one of those in Amsterdam, with or without rental company livery. Maybe email the company, or just rent a scooter. They're plentiful.

The “snorfiets” is in the Netherlands a moped with a topspeed of 25khp, you don’t have to wear a helmet. For e-bikes the same, but not those that can faster. Soon this will change, so wearing a helmet will be mandatory.
