Does anyone know how often/when they release tickets online? I’m hoping to book for late June but for quite a while now, the website is only showing availability through May 22.
We were in Amsterdam in 2019 and visited the Resistance Museum following a Jewish Walking Tour with historian Naomi Koopmans. We just walked in and purchased our tickets at the museum. It worked out well following our informative walking tour. If interested: https://jewishamsterdamtour.com/about-us/
I was in Amsterdam in 2017. I just walked in the Dutch Resistance Museum & bought a ticket. It was one of the most interesting places I visited. After touring the museum I bought a copy of "The Girl in the Blue Coat" in the lobby. I read it on the plane on my way home.
I visited the museum on April 12 of this year. I walked in and bought tickets. I had no problems. The museum is very good, but the building is small. It feels very claustrophobic at times. I would recommend going early before it gets very full.
The reason why you can’t buy tickets for dates after May 22, is that the museum will close its doors on May 23 for works to completely renew the permanent exhibition. Strangely enough this is only mentioned on the Dutch version of the website. It doesn’t say how long the works will take or when the museum will reopen again, which is an indication that it will be a while. So I wouldn’t count on the museum to be open in June. I’m sorry.
Thank you so much everyone. @Dutch_Traveler - thank you. I was getting worried it might be something like that but I couldn’t find any information about it. I’ll check again but it looks likely we’ll sadly miss this one. It sounds like such an interesting museum. Amsterdam museums must not like me much. The only other time I was there was in the late 90’s and the Van Gogh museum was in the process of moving and was closed. Guess I’ll have to try again in another 20 years.
