Dutch Resistance and Dam Square Monument closed for renovation

We were in Amsterdam July 6-9. I took Tram # 14 to Artis and walked the 2-3 blocks to the Dutch Resistence museum. I was disappointed to find out they are closed for renovations until October.

I made my way back towards the city center via Rembrant's square and the Flower market.

I was disappointed again to see that the Dam Square monument is also scaffolded and maybe partially removed for preservation.

I didn't see anything on the Museum's web site, nor in Rick's "updates" to guide books. I listened to Rick's recent Monday night travel show (on Amsterdam) and don't think I heard it there either.

Considering that Rick was just in Amsterdam, I thought he would have mentioned that. On that Monday night travel show, he spent a lot of time just showing the video of his Amsterdam show (which I had already reviewed).

Info for those traveling to Amsterdam this summer/fall,

Proost - and Tot ziens

Thanks for this info. My husband and I were just talking about maybe going to the Dutch Resistance museum when we're there in Sept. Urgh. The website now says "Between May 23 and December 1, 2022, the Dutch Resistance Museum is closed for work on the new permanent exhibition."

I’ve already mentioned several times on this forum that the Resistance museum is closed until December. Also the museum states this very clearly on the homepage of their website https://www.verzetsmuseum.org/en/world-war-ii-in-the-netherlands
It has been closed since May and it’s a shame that RS still hasn’t updated his website with this info. The RS website also still recommends visiting the Amsterdam Hermitage (closed since March due to the war in Ukraine) and the Amsterdam museum (closed for renovations).

I wonder whether any of those changes in status have been reported as guidebook updates. Rick and his co-writers don't spend their days reading every post on the forum. Here's a link to the reporting form. You can find it the next time you need it by going to the Shop Online link and navigating to the guidebook that needs to be updated. The last link on the page will be "Updates and Feedback", where you'll find a link to the feedback form

By the time a new guidebook comes out, it will likely have reopened. I believe the Dutch Resistance Museum is doing trolley tours on Sundays while the museum is closed. I wonder if the tour is not in English though as they’re not posted on the English portion of the website- at leading they weren’t in June when I was trying to book. We were disappointed to have missed out on this museum. I do think in this Covid age, we all need to verify everything from guidebooks as so much is constantly changing.
