We are traveling for the first time to Utrecht and Amsterdam (as our home bases) and would like to hire a driver to bring us to Huinen (my fathers family place of origin) is there a company/driver you’d recommend?
Most efficient way is taking the train to Amersfoort or Nijkerk and from there a taxi to Huinen. The latter is about a half hour by train from Utrecht. No experience but Taxi Wolf get’s good reviews. Website is in Dutch only, so needs translation.
In general use public transport as much as possible. It’s wel organized, trains and trams run very frequent. Don’t have to deal with traffic jams this part of the country is so notorious for. Instead of a taxi you can take the bus from the closest train stations in Nijkerk or Barneveld, but needs much more time in this case.
I just got back from Amsterdam and hired a private driver recommended on this forum.
His name is Arthur Weegeman, email is - [email protected].
He is a retired taxi driver for 35 years and will pick you up at your hotel, take you where you want to go and wait however long you like to tour around and see the sites.
He will give you an accurate price quote before you leave for Europe and will give you his What's app number so that you can easily communicate with him when you arrive in Europe.
He told me he has taken passengers to Germany and Belgium from Amsterdam, so he can probably accommodate your request as well.
