My travel partner just bought Anne Frank House tickets for the evening of April 19. This is more than six weeks out. The site is Annefrank.org.
I know there are fraudulent websites; the Anne Frank website warns the public of such. I looked at Annefrank.org website, and I did see evening tickets available, 6+ weeks out.
So this seems to be a mystery. Did she somehow make a mistake?
Please be gentle. Thanks.
Tickets for April 19 are at this very minute on sale and there's still a few time slots at the end of the evening on the 19th left for the museum but not the one that includes the introduction part. It's not exactly 6 weeks, as it's a little more nuanced. It's been almost 2 years ago that we bought them, but I remember released on Tuesday, and this lines up with what I remember.
Did you visit on your last trip? Be prepared for such an incredibly powerful, moving experience. Glad you were able to get tickets.
They should be legitimate.
Their website shows they are selling tickets through the 19th. Next Tuesday they will release tickets for the week of April 20th. They release a full week each Tuesday, so technically you could buy your ticket 6 weeks and 5 days in advance.
I did not get to visit on my last trip, so I'm relieved you all agree they are legitimate. Thank you for double checking. I've read where many folks have had so many problems getting and paying for these tickets. The visit time is a bit late, but then again, no one had to wake up in the middle of the night to buy tickets.
I was also able to get English tour tickets to the Corrie ten Boom House; I booked the flights months ago, then immediately booked these tickets.
And we went to the Dutch Resistence Museum two years ago, so these somber experiences will build on that understanding.
Thanks again for answering so quickly . Happy travels.
Tickets for the Anne Frank house are released once a week on Tuesday for the week that starts 6 weeks later (actually 5 weeks and 6 days later).
Yesterday, March 3 2026, was the Tuesday of week #10. This means that yesterday the tickets were released for the entire week 6 weeks later; week #16. Week #16 starts on Monday April 13 and ends on Sunday April 19.
It’s always good to be cautious, but the fact that your travel partner was able to buy tickets for April 19 is completely normal and according to the schedule the tickets are released on.
Dutch traveler, thanks once again!
The .org site linked above is the official site, have them double check that it is exactly what they used to get the tickets. Your travel partner should have received downloadable tickets with a QR code with details about what time to arrive, etc. If you checked that date and saw no evening tickets when you checked it is because they're probably sold out.
FWIW I have been to the museum both in the daytime and at night. Both were just as moving and interesting, but the evening hours more so as you learn that this is the time the family was able to move about their business.
Cl, thanks, we do have QR codes!
Random info that you may appreciate. If you need to use the restroom prior to your admission time I recall there's a strange public restroom across the pedestrian walkway that you pay to use. But it's weird and the stall sort of opens up right on to the pedestrian walkway. But, there is also a restaurant called PANCAKES (Blue sign with a pancake guy on it) and they have a clean not weird restroom that you pay to use (even if you are a paying customer you have to pay to use it.) So I'd go over to PANCAKES before using the weird restroom!
Once inside the museum of course, there are restrooms.
I also got my tickets on the first day available (but for earlier in the week than you).
I also didn’t get up in the middle of the night, but did it as soon as I woke up. And yes, at that point all the daytime tickets were already gone for the several days around my date options, with slots left in the evening starting around 5:00. Since we are staying in Amsterdam, that actually suited me just fine because we’ll have a full day to sightsee beforehand, and time for dinner afterwards. But I did wonder if they get bought up as cruise ship excursions.
Edit: Thanks, KD, for the restroom tips!
Restroom tips: priceless.
Thanks!
You don’t have to be at the Anne Frank house far in advance before your time slot starts. Before the introduction of the time slots there used to be a huge line circling around the block. The whole point of the time slots is to get rid of the line. Just make sure you’re at the entrance a couple of minutes before your time slot starts and you’re good to go. Or do what I always do; show up 5 minutes after the start of your time slot and walk right in.
I have only been there once, so this may have just been my experience, but don't go in thinking all visitors will treat this like they should. Like any exhibit with many people attending, some are just not going to get it, they may be loud and not as respectful as they should be. I think I would have been less annoyed realizing that before I went in than discovering it once I was there. So if you are prepared for that I think it will annoy you less and allow yourself to have more of the experience you expect and want. For this reason I hope to return some day. I went in summer, so hopefully April will be less busy for you.
I think April is the literal busiest month in Amsterdam due to the tulips ....
But we will be there in the evening, so I would expect less crowding. Thanks for the input!
It doesn’t really matter if you’re there in the evening or during the day. If your time slot and the ones before and after yours are sold out, it will be busy. Only in the winter months when not all time slots are fully booked will it be a bit less busy in the evening. But this will not be the case in April, so you need to prepare for crowds.
