Hi
We wanted to do a day trip from Amsterdam to Zaanse Schans and Haarlem. Is that possible to make both in one day?
Which to go to first? Any tips? I assume we will take the trains to save time.

Yes both destinations are dobale from Amsterdam on one day. Why don't you stay in Haarlem which is like 20 minutes from Amsterdam and accommodations there will be cheaper.

Agree.
We stayed in Zaandam, just outside of Amsterdam. Nice quiet town and very convenient. Zaanse Shans is fun and lots to see and do. We spent about 4-5 hours, including the train ride and the walk to and from the train station. Can do both in the same day.

These are short trips and all trains you need run at least 4 times per hour.
Use the train planner of the NS (the Dutch railways) to see which trains you need and from which platform they leave.
