SinceRotterdam was heavily bombed in WWII, much of the city is quite modern.

We don’t mind! We usually stay with family when we visit Rotterdam, but they have a new baby in the house so looking to give them a bit of privacy. Thanks for any suggestions!

Not a boutique hotel, but a hotel full of history is Hotel New York. It’s located in the former headquarters of the Holland America Line https://hotelnewyork.com/

And yes, some parts of the city were destroyed at the beginning of WW2, but the bombs thankfully didn’t wipe out the entire city. Historical buildings can still be found throughout the city, but mainly west from the center. For instance at Delfshaven or at the Oude Haven (old harbour).

My sister (lives in Rotterdam) mentioned Hotel New York. I am very familiar with Rotterdam--just never need a hotel when I am there. I would love to find something in the older part of the city, but perhaps should embrace the modern. Thank you for these very unique recs!
