Hello,
Are there any grocery stores in Amsterdam which currently accept USA credit cards for payment at checkout? Thank you.
Connie, you're probably running into the issue at some of the Albert Heijn stores?

As mentioned, the Albert Heijn on Rozengracht took a poster's CCs as well as at the big AH store near Museumplein. Jumbo stores were mentioned at accepting CCs as well.
When I was there, most accepted American credit cards (except for AMEX), with the exception of some of the Albert Heijn grocery stores, which only took European debit cards. I wound up having to use cash there.

Not even European debit cards - I could not use my UK debit or credit card to pay in Albert Heijn in The Hague yet it was absolutely fine in Amsterdam.
Last May, I traveled throughout the Netherlands and visited multiple grocery stores, including Jumbo, Spar, and Albert Heijn. Every place accepted my Visa CC. Just make sure that you have a card with a chip.

Credit cards are accepted at Albert Heijn stores in the more touristed areas and at train stations, but not at most of them. You were lucky. All of us had the experience of our credit cards being rejected at the store.
Having said that, I read that the Maestro card, which is what most AH accept, has been discontinued by Mastercard. So many people are waiting for AH to begin the process of accepting credit cards. As of March of this year, that had not happened yet. https://dutchreview.com/news/economy/hold-up-new-debit-cards/
We had no problems using US credit cards (Visa) this summer at Albert Heijn stores in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
