Credit Card for Museumkaarts?

We're going to be in the Netherlands this coming spring, both before and after our 21 Day Best of Europe tour. Since we are museum junkies, it will no doubt be to our advantage to purchase museumkaarts. I do understand that they are only good for 31 days; that works (just barely.) Does anyone know if we can pay for them with a credit card? We will probably be buying them at one of the museums in Haarlem. If we must use cash, that's fine; I'd just like to know ahead of time.

Thank you.

This is old data, but be prepared with a Chip card. The Netherlands is a special case.

Edit: I deliberately left the term "PIN" out of that sentence. When we were in the Netherlands several years ago, many of the POS terminals we saw (including at Het Loo Palace, where we bought our Museumkaarts) had the "swipe" slot covered with duct tape. They would only take cards that could be inserted with a chip, which we didn't have. Since many countries are now familiar with Chip and Signature cards, they may (?) be cheerfully accepted in the Netherlands.

I got ours in Haarlem at the Frans Hals Museum using my ordinary signature card in 2013. I was surprised at how many places took the museumkaart all over the Netherlands. Be sure to ask.

On the site of the Museumkaart you'll find all museums who take it. (It's arranged by province. Amsterdam, Haarlem and around is Noord-Holland. The Hague and Delft are to be found under Zuid-Holland.)

Thanks, tonfromleiden. The English page just shows the museums in Amsterdam, if I recall. Thanks for the link. For sure, museumkaarts are in our plans.

This year, I completed 43 museum visits with the Museumkaart. It is a bargain for people who go to museums a lot and live in the country.
