Is there an actual Chinatown in Amsterdam? I can't seem to find any information about it except that it's next to the Red Light District. We are reaching Amsterdam in the late afternoon and would like to do some walking around before dinner at Mossels & Gin (tips on getting there would be helpful!). I'm not expecting anything on the scale of Manhattan's or San Fran's Chinatowns but am very curious to see the meshing of Dutch and Chinese cultures.
Amsterdam's Chinatown doesn't really exist anymore, it's now down just one restaurant. The scourge of the Argentine Steakhouses has taken over most of the area. It's located off of Dam Square on Oude Doelenstraat:

Near Centraal Station, across from the city library, there is a floating Chinese Restaurant that's been around for years:
The restaurant spoke about "Golden Choptsticks" used to be pretty good. I was there a couple times in 2014 and before that 2012. Hoping it will be just as good when I get there in early August.

Link is above. Lo Mein and vegetable dishes were very good. Great hot sauce if you are into that. Reasonable prices too, although if you want ice in your water or drink, you may be out of luck. Seems like Amsterdam ice is not in big demand
BTW Michael,
Have you been to that Chinese Restaurant across from Centraal? If so, is it any good?

Amsterdam's China town is just on one street called the Zeedijk. There's a decent Chinese restaurant called New King that you can check out. But most of the rest of it is pretty schlocky. However, it's a nice walk and dead ends into the Nieuwmarkt. Walk down the Zeedijk just to check it off your list, have an easy lunch at New King and then top off your evening with a "biertje" at 't Loosje café on the Nieuwmarkt and enjoy the people watching.
