Family with two teenagers will be staying for several nights in the center. Any recommendations for casual and nontouristy places in the center or easy access via transport that has really excellent food (of any variety, not just Dutch)

We ate at a restaurant called Pantry, 2x. It is pretty small, we had reservations. We were 4 acults and tried the smoked eel as an appetizer. It’s a specialty in the Netherlands we discovered. It was actually delicious.
Also, try the poffertjes - silver dollar sized puffed pancakes. They are sold as street food all over. I ate a plate everyday!
