Can you get a guided tour of Keukenhof Gardens at the gate?

We will be in Den Haag for 2 nights prior to taking a river cruise out of Amsterdam. On April 5th we will have a full day that we can set aside to visit Keukenhof, BUT there is a 50% chance of rain, thus I don't want to buy tickets ahead of time. So, Can you get a guided tour of Keukenhof Gardens at the gate?

I'm asking about a guided tour as that is my DW's preference, rather than just wandering around on our own.

Thanks, JW

the answer I have is that I don't know because I have never tried.

I have been to Keukenhof several times and never felt any need whatsoever to have a guide. I understand that she does.

The map is clear, as long as I get by the lake at some point I'm happy, because of the views. The views around the windmill are pretty good too, and the website will tell you what the featured display in the interior halls is that week.

I find that I go wherever I am drawn to as I stroll around. I don't think there is any wrong answer or any right answer.

Have you watched any videos on Youtube of the Keukenhof? You can get a really good idea of what it was like in former years, and the basic layout doesn't really change.

Have you been through the webpages at https://keukenhof.nl/en/ ?

We also have been several times and agree with Nigel’s comments. Many people also ask about crowds and times. I love flowers and in all our visits I have no recollection at all of people, really. But that’s me. It is mesmerizing. This is among the most beautiful places I’ve have ever been. You can’t go wrong. Safe travels.

Thank you both! I had seen the ticket page, but it left us confused. Here is the question it left us with.

They sell a combo ticket from Leiden Center for Bus+Garden Entry for $32.55 USD. It doesn't really say it is a round trip ticket and they also sell a "Return Ticket Bus only" for $12.69. This makes me think you must buy both. So weird to me. Do you know if the Combo ticket is all we need?

The combo ticket is a bus ticket TO and FROM the Keukenhof plus entry to the Keukenhof.
The bus only ticket is a bus ticket TO and FROM the Keukenhof. This bus only ticket is for those who have already bought entry tickets to the Keukenhof and want to add bus tickets.

the same word means something different on the opposite sides of the ocean.

Return in this instance (and generally in transport) does not mean to go back. A return ticket is the way we say what you would call a round-trip. An out and back, as the Germans say.

The combination ticket gets you there, gets you in, and gets you back to where you got on.

A return will get you there and get you back, but not get you in. You may have a voucher or perhaps an annual pass.

I hope that helps...
