I'll just add that Amsterdam is a tough city for hotels. Demand outstrips supply, so be prepared to either spend more, or settle for less, than you initially planned.

Hotel Parkzicht has double rooms from 80 - 110 euros. Rooms are clean but slightly frayed; the location near Vondelpark is excellent. Book direct for the best price.
