Bolt?

I was just researching Uber in the Netherlands and heard that Bolt was cheaper. Have any of you had experience with either?

It can be. But the best way to find out is to go to Google maps, put in your departure place and destination and ask for directions using public transportation. When they appear, scroll down to the bottom and there should be Ride Services listed there. It will tell you available services like Uber, Bolt, etc., and the approximate time and price. It works best when you are there, but you can still get an approximate idea from a dummy request. Make sure you download all the apps for the ride services so you can quickly get one.

Can’t tell you about the Netherlands but I’ve used Bolt in Lithuania, Poland(Warsaw) and South Africa. I first used them in Vilnius out of necessity since there were so few Ubers around and tons of Bolts and could get a ride in 1-2 minutes vs wasting 15+ mins waiting for an Uber.

I only compared prices in S Africa and found Bolt to be slightly cheaper consistently but not enough to make a difference. The key for me is availability of rides.

I've used Bolt in Estonia (where the Unicorn startup was invented in 2013) and Lithuania. It worked great, exactly like Uber except more available and more commonly used. The Bolt app worked great as well, allowing you to see your pricing, watch the progress of your ride, etc. All the things we think of as Uber-esque.

I use Bolt in Paris - I basically gave up on Uber and have found Bolt more reliable.

It would also be helpful to know where you plan to travel that made you research uber/bolt. Travelling by car is rarely the best way to get around the Netherlands.
