Many years ago I was in Amsterdam on business and we had a day trip on a boat across what was then still referred toas the Zuiderzee. We went to a little farm where they were making goat cheese. It was a wonderful time. I am going back in September with my wife and friends and am wondering if something like that still exists. Any thoughts would be welcome.
The Zuiderzee ceased to exist in 1932 when the Afsluitdijk (Closing Dike) was finished. The 2 bodies of water that were then created were named Waddenzee and IJsselmeer. The IJsselmeer has been called and referred to as IJsselmeer ever since.
There is however a Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen, which tells the history of the area and shows old crafts. The easiest way to reach the Zuiderzee Museum is by ferry. Could that be what you did?
