Hello, my husband and I want to visit Muiderslot Castle. We’d be coming from Amsterdam.
Is it possible to rent bikes in Amsterdam and bike to Muiderslot? Is there a bike path or is it along a busy road? How long would it take to get there?
Or, is it possible to take the train there and then rent bikes once we’re there?
You must cross whole south-east Amsterdam to get to Muiden and the Muiderslot, which is not very picturesque to the say the least. It would be a much more agreeable trip if you take your rented bicycles on the train to either Weesp (from where it's just a few kilometers) or to Abcoude (for a slightly longer trip). Bicycle are allowed on the train outside rush hours (weekdays: till 9 AM and after 4 PM) with a special bicycle ticket which costs you around EUR 6.
