Has anyone used Mike's Bike's tour company in Amsterdam? Interested in going to the countryside to tour. Not a great biker, but would love leisurely biking once we're transported there.
Haven't used this particular company, but would advise that you really don't have to sign up for an organized tour. There's a free bike/pedestrian ferry behind Centraal Station that crosses the river and deposits you on the other side, from where there are dedicated and uncongested bike trails all over the Waterland area all the way up to Marken and beyond.
The bike shop will have a cycling map (about 2 Euros) that shows all of the bike paths in the vicinity, and is worth the money.
A day out on two wheels is a great way to see the Dutch countryside, but if you're not regular cyclists I'd recommend investing in a good pair of padded bicycling shorts before you go ... trust me on this.
Thank you, Robert!
