Would you recommend taking a train to Rotterdam and then a waterbus to Kinderkijk? How far is the walk from where the waterbus drops you off at Kinderdijk? Is is an all day affair?
In planning for my trip later this year, I came across this video which I thought was helpful in showing the journey from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk via the boat.
From Amsterdam Centraal, we took the train to Rotterdam Centraal, then metro/subway on the blue line (light blue and dark blue both work) to Leuvehaven, walked toward the river, under the Erasmus bridge you will need to find waterbus dock 21 which will take you to Kinderdijk. Pay the captain once on board with a credit card tap. When we went there on a Saturday there were 2 timetables (10am or 11:40am) and we just missed the 11:40 departure (due to a new train breaking down at a stop) so instead we pivoted and took a waterbus toward Dordrecht and got off at Alblasserdam, which with 15-20 minutes walking NW puts you at the end of the field for the farthest Kinderdijk windmill. We walked the back door into Kinderdijk. Quite humorous now. Sometimes those mishaps work out well too. It was an incredible time and worth the day trip, such a magical place! I have a cousin in Dordrecht who showed us around after, and it’s a charming city too.

We took a train to Rotterdam and a waterbus to Kinderdijk. We spent a full afternoon there and loved it all. There are 19 windmills in their original locations and you can go inside some of them.
It was a very short walk from the waterbus to Kinderdijk, easy.
