we are traveling from Brugges Belgium to Amsterdam, anyone have thoughts on the best route/train to take? It will be a Sunday on the day we travel, thanks!

Take the train. Belgian rail will give you the schedule.

You'll see you have the choice between the Intercity and the Thalys between Antwerpen or Brussel and Amsterdam. The Thalys is one hour faster and can be cheaper with advance-bought tickets, but has compulsory reservation. The Intercity has a fixed price and your ticket is valid for any train on that day.

I just got my tickets from Amsterdam to Bruges on Trainline for 43E for April. There are lots of alternatives but we picked via Brussels (shortest time and number of connections). If you are interested in a day stop in Antwerp that’s an option also.
I always print a hard copy and download the app for current information.
