My wife and I will be on a river cruise on the rhine in may of 2027. Does anyone have a suggestion for travel in surance that covers water levels

I don't have any suggestions for insurance that covers water levels. I'm not sure such a thing even exists. It will be interesting to see if anyone does have a suggestion.
I can tell you that the companies doing river cruises are experts at dealing with water level issues. Last summer, the water level in the Danube became so high that the authorities shut down navigation at dark and would not reopen it until daylight. Our ship tied up at a commercial anchorage pretty much in the middle of nowhere for the night instead of cruising through the night. In the morning, a fleet of buses awaited us on the dock. They would take us to our scheduled shore excursion and bring us back to the ship further down the river later in the day. Those who wanted to could simply stay on the ship and travel with it. We went on our shore excursion and rejoined the ship further down the river mid-afternoon. We made it to our next stop only 1 hour behind the original schedule. It was an amazing masterpiece of logistics. I asked the cruise staff how they could get those buses there in such short notice. They replied that the company (Gate 1) had 4 buses scheduled to shadow the cruise. They used the buses for regular shore excursions but also to help manage any water level issues.

Why are you interested in water level insurance? Second, I don't think that type of insurance exists. What risk are trying to insure around? Water levels are very unpredictable . We have been on a number of river cruise and hit water problems on two of them. The cruise companies are very good at working around that problem.

As I understand it, even with water level challenges cruises usually offer alternative transportation (bus) so you cover the same itinerary just on land. I'm hard pressed to think of an insurance policy that would cover that as a "loss" if the cruise company did due diligence to help you with onward travel. I suggest posting your question in the Cruise Critic forum, the audience there is more likely to have specifics to help you out.
