We are arriving in Amsterdam in the early afternoon, and will be flying out the next evening, late. Where are the best tulip gardens in the area, and any advice on how to get to these within our time frame?
How about some of your travel information.
When will you arrive in Amsterdam. If it is mid April and /or early May the answer is almost everywhere but there are really good places around Amsterdam. And I am sure others will respond and point them out.
Sorry, here are more details. We will be arriving at 8:40 in the morning into Amsterdam on Sunday April 12th, from London.
That's about perfect mid season for tulips in South Holland.
Do you want to see them up close and personal or from a distance?
If you look out the window of the plane as you cross the coast you may be rewarded.
If you want to see it up close, you may like to visit Keukenhof which is the daddy of all daddies. Coaches go right from the airport the short distance and you can have a combo ticket which includes both the bus and the admission.
If you have a car or bike, you can go right to the fields, but braving the crowds at Keukenhof will be easier and more up close, with loads of variety...
Are you arriving via air? If so there are direct buses at the airport to the famous Keukenhof gardens. They open at 8:30am and have free lockers. You can purchase combo tickets which includes entrance and bus ticket. More info here:
Perfect! I appreciate the advice.
